A Boeing 737 Max aircraft from Norwegian Air, which on Friday set course for Scandinavia after being stranded in Iran since December, landed early Saturday morning in Sweden.

After six hours and 20 minutes in the air, the plane landed just before 4 am Saturday at Arlanda outside Stockholm, according to Flightradar24.

‘It is of great relief to get the plane back home after two long months in Iran. A big thank you must now be directed to those who have been involved in the process of getting the plane back into the air,’ wrote senior communications adviser Astrid Mannion-Gibson at Norwegian to E24 Friday night.

The plane was only two months old when it had to land in Shiraz in Iran on December 14 last year. The passengers were picked up by another aircraft, while the broken plane remained. The sanctions against Iran have made it difficult to get new parts to repair the plane. Friday it was finally able return to Scandinavia.

It is not known what the long stay for the plane in Iran has cost Norwegian.
