Norwegian charged with killing in Spain

A 36-year-old Norwegian and two Dutchmen have been arrested and charged with a killing committed in the resort of Mijas,Spain two years ago said the Spanish police unit, Guardia Civil, in a press release.

 

In addition to the killing, the man was charged with an attempted murder, as well as several weapons and drug offences, wrote VG newspaper, who first reported on the case.

The sentence for the killing is due in August 2016, after a 46-year-old Colombian man was shot seven times in the back.His girlfriend was shot five times, but survived the incident.

Possible arrest

According to the police, four people were behind the shooting.In addition to the Norwegian, two Dutchmen aged 23 and 28 were arrested in the Netherlands and Spain.A fourth suspect was himself killed in the Colombian city of Medellín later that year.

Spanish police denote the shooting as a revenge attack.The Colombian belonged to a group that the police say are alleged to have been accused of stealing cocaine from a rival group to which the Norwegians and the others arrested belonged.

Seizure of weapons

Three weapons and large amounts of drugs were seized reported the Spanish police in the press release. The police had received assistance from their colleagues in Norway, Colombia and the Netherlands in their work on the matter.

Those arrested will soon be tried in a court in Fuengirola in the southern province of Málaga.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had not been able to comment to VG on Wednesday night.
