The Norwegian mountaineer Siv Harstad (45) has been helped down from Mount Everest by two Sherpas, after she became snow blind when she alone reached the top of the world’s highest mountain.

Harstad reached the peak on Thursday. On Saturday she had come down to Camp 2, which is located 6,400 meters above sea level, said her spokesperson Kathy Anne Hansen on Harstad’s blog, according to TV 2.
– She is in a much greater shape now and she plans to return to the base camp tomorrow, according to the blog post.

At the same time, information has come that two foreign climbers have died on Mount Everest. One came from the Netherlands, while the nationality of the other is not known. Both died of altitude sickness, says spokesperson Gyanendra Shrestha from Nepal’s tourism ministry to news agency DPA Saturday.
