The Norwegian IS defector who are in prison in Turkey demanded to be released but this was rejected by the court.
Turkish authorities are now investigating whether he has violated the country’s anti-terrorism laws.
The 32-year-old man, who illegally crossed the border to Turkey in April, pleaded not guilty and demanded to be released during a remand in the town Kilis last week,but the court rejected this, the newspaper VG writes.
In the ruling the judge stated that 32-year-old, along with a Tunisian IS defector, is under a “strong, criminal suspicion.”
The referee also points out that a major investigation of the two is still taking place, referring to article number 100 of the Turkish Penal Code that deal with a possible “threat to national security.”
A spokesman at the Turkish presidential office have confirmed to VG that the Norwegian now risk a terror indictment in Turkey. The newspaper is also aware that the Norwegian authorities was present during the remand meeting in Kilis, but the State Department has so far not commented on the matter.
