Norwegian People’s Aid employee killed in accident

One of Norwegian People’s Aid deminers, Ngo Thien Khiet (45), died today after a tragic mine accident in Quang Tri, Vietnam.

One of the other employees, Ngyen Van Hao (43), was also wounded in the accident, but his condition is stable.

This is a tragic accident and we are now working to uncover the causes and assist the family of the deceased. At the same time we work to protect our colleague who now lies wounded in the hospital, says Per Nergaard, Acting Secretary General of Norwegian People’s Aid.

The accident took place when a team from the Norwegian people’s aid in the morning local time searched for cluster bombs and other explosives in a rice field
