Norwegian veterans get their own house in Oslo
Oslo municipality makes a house available to Norwegian veterans. They provide for the operation of it in cooperation with the Norwegian Armed Forces.
City Councillor of Oslo, Raymond Johansen (Labour), and Minister of Defence, Frank Bakke-Jensen (Conservatives), have come up with a solution for a meeting place for everyone who has served in international operations on behalf of Norway.

“This will be a house that all veteran associations can use. It will be an important contribution to all those who have served internationally. In Norway, there are 100,000 women and men who are veterans. They have participated in conflicts such as in Korea, Lebanon, the Balkans and Afghanistan. Although they have different experiences, there are common denominators that make it important to meet, share their experiences and learn how others have dealt with what they have been through,” Bakke-Jensen explains.
“This will be an important gathering place for veterans and their families from Oslo and throughout Eastern Norway. I am very glad that we have located such a nice place, and reached that agreement today,” Johansen adds.
The veteran house is to be set up in an old Swiss villa on the water’s edge along Mosseveien. The premises will be financed jointly by Oslo municipality and the Norwegian Armed Forces. It will be the Telemark Battalion that is responsible for the coordination of it.
