– I am very pleased that the deaf and those with hearing impairment will have the opportunity to communicate directly with emergency phone services, says Justice and Emergency Minister Anders Anundsen.

The new opportunity could help to save lives in situations where those with hearing impairments meeting someone who needs help, according to the Directorate for Emergency Communication.

The pilot project runs for two years and the co-located emergency call center in Bodø will receive all the requests that come via SMS.
