Norwegians now constitute the largest group of foreigners who own a holiday home in Sweden.
Foreigners now own 37,438 holiday home in Sweden, according to new figures from Statistics centralbyrån in Sweden. This represents 6.5 per cent of the recreational homes in the country.
At the turn of the millenium, Germans were the group of foreigners who owned the most cottages in Sweden. Then the Danes took over the number one spot, but now the Norwegians are at the number one spot, the figures show. At the end of 2015 owned Norwegians 11,474 holiday home in total in Sweden, up 3.9 percent from 2014.
The number of holiday homes owned by Danes fell by 1.6 percent to 11,267.
The most popular areas among foreign owners in Sweden are Kronoberg and Värmland.
