Monthly and yearly passes on NSB from October 14th are to be 20 per cent cheaper. The discount scheme will not apply in areas with ticket cooperation.

– Less expensive season ticket so that even more people choose the train to and from work, says Minister of Transport Ketil Solvik-Olsen.

In areas where public transport companies have a price and ticket cooperation with NSB, the discount of 20 percent will not apply. This includes such routes in Oslo, Akershus, Kolumbus in Rogaland and AtB in Sør-Trondelag.

The discount scheme of 20 percent is a result of the budget compromise in Parliament between the coalition parties, the Conservatives, the Progress Party, and supporting parties Liberal Party and Christian Democrats.

Liberal transport spokesperson Abid Q. Raja, forecasts that the Liberals will work to expand the discount negotiations on next year’s budget as well.

– The next step must be the price set down in the areas where NSB partners with local public transport companies about the price. It should pay for people to choose environmentally friendly solutions, and then the price must also be low, he said.
