The opposition in Parliament wants Immigration Minister Sylvi Listhaug to explain herself to Parliament with regards to the alleged asylum agreement between Norway and Russia.

TV2 reported recently that Russia denies that there has been an agreement for the return of asylum seekers with multiple visas, as Listhaug has repeatedly claimed both verbally and in writing.

A united opposition now require a verbal report from the Minister.

– We must have clarity about what has actually been said and done, and what agreements are in place, or not, says Parliament Representative Stein Erik Lauvås to TV2 News.

This mainly concerns the asylum seekers who came across the border to Storskog.

Listhaug has since February claimed that Norway has an agreement with Russia to return asylum seekers who have multiple visas. However, the Russian embassy denied this earlier this week to TV2.

– It creates an uncertainty, and it is important that the Minister offers clarification, says KrF (Christian Democratic Party) Leader Knut Arild Hareide.

Sylvi Listhaug did not want to comment on the case Sunday, but confirmed to the TV2 that she will explain the matter to Parliament.
