One person is killed in Notodden, confirms police. One person has been arrested and the scene is isolated.
– Just before 15:00 O’clock AMK-panel received a message about stabbing case at Maxbo in Notodden, said operations Gisle Småge in South-Eastern police to news agency NTB.
We have closed out the area close to Maxbo and we can confirm that a person is dead.
We believe we have arrested a person who has something to do with this, but we need to continue our investigation to find what happened there, said the operation manager.
An investigation has been initiated and crime specialists are presenting at the location. Police are also in the process of notifying close relatives of the dead person.
An eyewitness told the TV2 about some dramatic minutes in the store.
– I heard loud voices and suddenly everyone ran into the store.
I was completely bewildered, and did not understand what was happening, says witness to the channel.
An employee then asked the witness and other to get out of the store and walk behind him.
The witness got out and moved across the street. From there he could see a man in overalls get out of the store.
– He had blood on his hands and face, and had an ax in his hand, said the witness.
The witness also says that the alleged perpetrator was arrested by police after about 30 minutes.
