Police were without access to vital computer systems in eleven hours Monday night and early Tuesday.

Without access to key records, pen and paper were used.

An error with central network equipment in police computer systems resulted in large parts of the systems went down Monday, NRK news reported. Employees of the agency were not able to access important records or make background checks for eleven hours.

Fortunately, the emergency network and telephone worked as normal, but other important data tools were down for hours. At 7 o’clock Tuesday morning section manager Asbjørn Rønnestad from the Police Directorate reported that about 95 percent of the systems were up and running again.
