The French unit for economic crime has searched the French headquarters of McDonald’s, after suspicions that the fast food chain has evaded tax.

According to police sources, documents were seized after the scrutiny, which took place last week. French authorities suspect that McDonald’s has evaded tax by channeling revenue from the business in France to the tax haven Luxembourg, where they have their European headquarters. The investigation of the fast food chain began earlier this year, at the request of the traded union movement in France.

Tuesday, the French unit for economic crime also raided Google’s headquarters in Paris after suspicions that it also, was involved in tax evasion by channeling revenue to a tax haven.
