From the autumn, Oslo police district will communicate with young people via social media.
According to the Police Forum, the district has employed a group of six people to work with social media.
Communication will take place via Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook Messenger, and is primarily an offer for youngsters, said police officer, Anne Katrin Storsveen, who is responsible for the network patrol in Oslo Police District.
“We hope this will be seen as a positive response from the police. It is also in the business strategy of the police that we create online security,”said Storsveen.
She said that there is a high demand for contact with the police on the Internet and that the police strongly believe in the project.
The net patrol’s first mission will probably be the Norway Cup, which will take place later this summer.
“We will use the Norway Cup’s Snapchat account to promote our online launch and also have information and guidance and talk to those participating in the Norway Cup. It will be a test for us to see how it is received and we are looking forward to it,” said the police officer.
According to the Politiforum, all police districts will have their own network patrols.
