The Norwegian National Day is a good day for pocket theft; most pickpocketing happens during this day.

‘We therefore use extra resources on this day’, says Roar Kvassheim, head of vinningsgruppen in Oslo to Nettavisen. He warns people that no matter how much you may enjoy yourself, it is important to be extra careful with your belongings. The time just after the parade is when people are most at risk.  ‘This is when people start getting tired and forget to watch what happens around them. It is generally at this time that pickpockets take their change’, explains Kvassheim.

Insurance company Frende asks people to be extra careful with their purses. They often carry mobile phones, sunglasses and cash for ice and soda which are easy to trade. ‘We have records of thefts from pockets, bags, strollers, café tables and wardrobes’, writes Frende’s communication manager Heidi Tofterå Slettemoen in a statement.
