According to the Meteorological Institute, precipitation in the form of snow and rain will continue in the southern and eastern regions of Norway until Sunday.

Kristiansand and extending to Vestfold will see continuing rainfall until Saturday.

‘But as the temperature drops throughout the day, rainfall turn to snow along the coast, south to Kristiansand. The precipitation is characterised by winds which veer toward the northeast, and the inland air cools down, so rain turns to snow’, said duty meteorologist John Smit at the Meteorological Institute to the news agency NTB.

In Oslo and the fjord, rainfall has transformed the layer of snow to slush.

40 centimeters

‘Most snowfall is inland. Beyond Saturday, there will be light snowfall in some areas.Where there are monitoring stations, most snow was found in Espedalen, between Lillehammer and Skåbu.

There, the snow is 40 centimeters deep. In second place was Geilo, with 39 centimeters’, said Smits.

‘Sunday will bring rain to most places in the country’, he added.
