Precipitation Record on several places in Western Norway

Large amounts of rainfall have led to record in Western Norway. It has rained 100 millimeters during one day in several places.

In Bergen it rained 76.2 millimeters during a day. The old record was recorded in 1989 and was 71.8 millimeters written by Meteorological Institute on Twitter.

Heavy rains and landslides have made it necessary to close several roads in western Norway. Driving conditions were difficult and the police asked motorists to be careful.

– It has bucket down on the west coast, south of Stad during the last day for messages on having water and trees in the road, written by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.

Some roads are closed

In Kvinnherad, thecounty road 551 is still closed at Furebergfossen waterfall bridge because of flooding on Tuesday afternoon, said traffic operator, Jan Marøy, working for road traffic center to news agency NTB.

Also county road 607 between Leirvik and Lavik in Sogn was closed due to landslides which is the detour via Norwegian County Road 63 at Lavik valley, according to Road Traffic Central.

E39 was reopened after being partially blocked due to a tree falling down, according to newspaper Bergens Tidende. Also Highway 13 between Odda and Kinsarvik was closed due to landslides.
