The Prime Minister: A very sad day

Five years after the bomb in the government quarter and the massacre at Utøya, the attacks will be commemorated across the country.

– It is a very sad day and it is always challenging, Prime Minister Erna Solberg said.
She has been preparing for the day, considering  how it will unfold and finished writing her speech.

Memorial events are held in Oslo, first with a ceremony in the government quarter followed by a memorial service in Oslo Cathedral and finally at Utøya in Buskerud.
In addition to the prime minister , the former prime minister now NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, the AUF leader Mani Hussaini, Labor leader Jonas Gahr Støre and Crown Prince and Princess will also participate in the commemorations.

Wreaths will be laid , and the names of the 77 killed will be read aloud.
The National Support group for the 22 July events and AUF are organizing the national rememberance events. The group has indicated that there will hereafter be a smaller official involvement in the markings of the anniversary.
Many municipalities will also hold local commemorations of the fifth anniversary of the attacks.
