More rain in southern Norway, the danger level is upped

During twelve hours on Saturday, up to 70 millimetres of rain can fall in Vestfold, Buskerud and Telemark. On Lista, it has rained more than 60 millimetres in two hours.

The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has issued a weather warning, which is upgraded to the orange level (second highest), concerning rainfall in Vestfold, Buskerud and Telemark. This means a danger of overwater in densely populated areas, local flooding, altered creek and river runs, earth- and flood slides where the squalls hit

It is expected between 40-50 millimetres precipitation in three hours from late Friday evening and the night to Saturday. In total, 60-70 millimetres of rain can pour down in twelve hours on Saturday.

From Friday evening, through Saturday, a lot of rain is expected in Agder, Telemark and the southern parts of Eastern Norway. In Agder, there will be heavy rain showers already in the morning, which can amount to 30-40 millimetres in places. Night to Saturday there will be some slowing down in the activity.

The latest reports show that it at the Lista lighthouse in West-Agder rained just over 60 millimetres in two hours.

Yellow flood warning

The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) has therefore also sent out flood warning at the yellow level for Agder, south of Rogaland, Telemark, Vestfold and Buskerud. They warn against local floods in streams and creeks as well as overwater in densely populated areas. Rapid water flow is expected in minor rivers.

For Oslo, Akershus, Østfold and parts of Agder, there is a warning of heavy squalls at the yellow danger level from night to Saturday and until Saturday morning.
