Raspberry sales grow

The raspberry season in full swing. From 2014 to 2015, sales increased by over 5 percent.

While strawberries are still struggling with both fungus and beetle infestation, people can enjoy themselves with both raspberries and cherries.

– Developments in the Norwegian raspberries growing in recent years is a continuous success story, says Agriculture and Food minister Jon Georg Dale.

Over the past ten years Norwegian raspberry production has increased from 340 tons to 1433 tons a year.
– Through cooperation between farmers and researchers they have created a product consumers demand and want, says Dale.

In 2003 came a new raspberry was created, which gets much of the credit for the great growth. Soon we began creating a new strain that has taken 15 years to develop and it will be called Ninni.
