An SAS plane from Heathrow to Copenhagen was delayed because the captain was stopped in a blood alchohol test just before departing on Monday morning.
During a routine test before departure, it was revealed that the captain had 0.1 per thousand of blood alcohol content, the newspaper VG writes.
This blood alcohol content is within the legal limit, but the captain was still taken in by the police.
The police will make further investigations of this incident in order to ascertain whether there has been a violation of the legislation, which is uncertain since the breathalyser of the captain showed 0.1.
– Those who are serving aboard planes, may not consume or have consumed alcoholic beverages later than eight hours before they start their work shifts. What we now want to investigate,is whether this rule has been broken, operations manager at the police at Romerike, Kristian Loraas, said.
Information Manager at SAS, Knut Morten Johansen, confirms that it was a marginal amount of blood alcohol content.
– That the crew may not have a blood alcohol content of more than 0.0 from eight hours before they start their work shifts is an internal SAS rule, but a rule which we take very seriously, he said.
