Save the Children say they hope the Nobel Peace Prize to the Colombian president will help ensure that future generations in Colombia can grow up in safety and peace.

The organization congratulates President Juan Manuel Santos with receiving the Peace Prize.

– After 52 years of war Colombia’s children have paid a heavy price for the war in his country. Children have been forced to flee their own country, have been recruited as child soldiers and suffered from abuse and violence.

The president getting the peace prize is a great recognition of  efforts  for a lasting peace in Colombia, said Secretary General Tove R. Wang.

– We also hope that this award will help the peace process come through entirely so that future generations in Colombia can grow up in safety and peace, she says.

Save the Children will this year for the 20th time arrange Save the Children’s Peace Party for the winner of the Nobel Peace Center on December 10th.
