Several children drowned in boating accident in Russia

At least eleven children and an adult were killed during a storm on Lake Syamozero in the Russian northwestern region of Karelia near the Finnish border.

Three boats with a total of 47 children at summer camp and four adult instructors were at sea when the accident occurred Saturday, the news agency Tass Sunday reports.
The local Minister of Culture Yekaterina Biktimirova says the children were between 12 and 15 years old.
Twelve have been found dead. Four people are still missing and the rescue operation is continuing, according to rescuers.
Altogether, 60 people and several helicopters are involved in rescue work.
