Police have called in hundreds of people from immigrant backgrounds to submit voluntary DNA samples in the investigation of a brutal rape in Lillestrøm last year.
aAmong those who have been summoned is former county politician Samad Rah, who think it is a bad way for the police to  spend their resources. He refuses to take a DNA test, according to Dagbladet.
– They should be able to catch the perpetrator with the resources they have available. Instead, they send out letters to hundreds of men, when they first could checked out immigrants with history of violence.  I personally have unblemished record – so why does my name turn up in connection with this issue, Rah told the newspaper.
As a result of refusing to submit to the test he has been summoned to give testimony at the East Police.
– They are  looking for a man with black hair and brown complexion. There is no reason to suspect that many, says Rah.
One night last September, the woman was threatened with a knife and raped in Lillestrom. Police said that the perpetrator is a man in his 40s with a foreign appearance, dark, short hair and crooked teeth. Police Attorney Line Thorsberg says that  the DNA material is being collected because prolonged investigation has not yet resulted in a suspect.
