Several Syrians get family reunification in Norway

This year to date, the majority of those who have received family reunification in Norway are Syrians. It is a sharp increase from the same period last year, according to UDI.

In the first half of 2016 1,096 Syrians got permission for family reunification, according to UDI. There is a sharp increase from the same period last year, where 260 permits were given. In 2014 only 50 such permits were given.

The statistics for the first half of the year also show that the number who have received family reunification is the highest figure in four years. Overall 8,230 people received permission.

The list of approved family permits for people from outside the EU is followed by Thailand with 886 people, Philippines with 624 people and Eritrea with 617 people.
