A man has been charged, and another five are pending charges, after police found several guns, and drugs, during a raid on a noisy party in an apartment in Oslo.

‘We came out after receiving messages about party noise emanating from an apartment in Høybråten. When we got to the place we found an AK-47, a sawed-off shotgun, a grenade and some drugs’, said operations manager, Rune Ullsand, of Oslo police.

The AK-47 (also known as a Kalashnikov) is a Russian assault rifle, and one of the most widely used military firearms in the world.

While one man has been arrested and charged with being in possession of the illegal weapons, another five men are waiting, and have yet to be charged, their status remains as suspects. Rune Ullsand confirmed that several investigative steps are being taken on Sunday which could lead to more accused in the case.

All those involved are men in their 20s. Ullsand would not comment on whether these are people who were known to the police already, or if they belong to a particular milieu.

The police bomb squad was on-site on Sunday morning to deal with the grenade. The explosive device represents no danger to other people in the area, said Ullsand.
