Six policemen were punished for accidental shots that went off during the 14-month temporary arming of the police.

The Norwegian Bureau for the Investigation of Police Affairs has investigated 15 cases, newspaper VG reported. During just over a year the police fired at least 25 accidental shots. Of these, 15 were investigated, and in six of the cases the Bureau concluded that criminal law was broken. The police have received fines for these incidents.

Sentencing for a accidental discharge is normally a fine of 10,000 kroner, the newspaper said. All six have accepted the decision by the Bureau.
