Nav last year discovered social security fraud among their clients for a total of NOK 302 million. This is more than ever before.

– It is very serious when people knowingly are providing incorrect information in order  to acquire benefits they are not entitled to, said Labor and Welfare Director Sigrun Vågeng.

1,472 people in total were charged with insurance fraud in 2015. Most were charged with defrauding of their unemployment benefits or rehabilitation benefits.

– This is a large amount. Insurance Abuse is  a serious economic crime. It is important that Nav continues the good and focused efforts to catch those who deliberately are exploiting our social security systems, says Labor Minister Anniken Hauglie.
