Prime Minister Erna Solberg will be visiting US President Barack Obama along with other Nordic leaders in May. – The meeting will consolidate the strong ties between our two countries, she said.
Among the topics of the US-Nordic summit at the White House May 13 are terrorism, violent extremism, environmental and climate challenges and nuclear security, the White House informed on Friday.
Solberg will be joined in Washington by the Prime Ministers of Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Sweden. The last time President Obama met Nordic leaders were on state visit to Sweden in September 2013.
The meeting on Friday will be followed by a dinner that night hosted by the president and first lady Michelle Obama , the Prime Minister’s Office said.

She pointed out that Norway and the United States cooperate closely in many areas, including in key international forums such as the UN and NATO. In addition the Government Pension Fund Global – referred to as the oil fund – owns shares in over 2,000 US companies, and the more than five million Norwegian Americans in America help strengtheneing the bonds of the two countries , the Prime Minister stressed.
