The international community must use all necessary means to stop the IS destruction, says Prime Minister Erna Solberg.

– The fight against IS is part of a global struggle against violent extremism, we have an obligation and a moral responsibility to help, said the prime minister, when she gave an account of Norway’s humanitarian and military contributions in the fight against the Islamic State (IS) in Parliament on Tuesday.
She pointed out that the United Nations has determined that the international community must use all necessary means to stop IS.
– Norway has followed the invitation, she said.
Solberg told the government that this year Norway will provide a total of over 300 million to humanitarian efforts in Iraq, and that Norway will contribute 10 billion over four years.
– Norway has taken a global leadership role in humanitarian efforts in Syria.
We are the fifth largest humanitarian donor country to Syria, said Solberg.
Militarily, Norway contributes mainly through the international coalition of 67 countries and organizations.
The coalition works with halting funding to the group and the supply of foreign fighters, in addition to military action and refutation of IS propaganda, stated Solberg.
