Solheim: – Trumps rumblings can be dangerous

Donald Trump has made political statements about the climate and environment that will be dangerous if put into practice, warns Erik Solheim, head of the UN Environment Program (UNEP).

He expressed concern about how efforts to combat climate change will go if Trump gets voted as US president. Later this month Trump will be appointed as the Republican Party’s presidential candidate.

– Trump must be judged by what he does, he has made many political statements that would be dangerous if he puts them into practice, says Solheim.

During an oil conference earlier this year, Trump stated that he will try to repeal the new climate agreement from Paris if he becomes president. He repeatedly expresses great skepticism about research on anthropogenic climate change.

Believing that humans have any control over climate change requires an enormous amount of arrogance.
