Almost every fifth boy and every tenth girl have smoked hash, showed a new survey among 25,000 young people in Oslo.

There’s a large increase from 2015, where the number of boys was 10%, while the girls were 5%. Now the figures are 17% and 9%, according to the survey: ”Ung i Oslo”, reported Klassekampen newspaper.

“The results indicate that young people in Oslo have become more ‘liberal’ in the use of cannabis in a short space of time,” the report said.

Other findings in the report are that there has been a significant fall in time spent on homework, more boys getting mental ailments, and young people with an immigrant background feeling less safe than young people with Norwegian-born parents (when they are out in the evening).

25,000 youth aged 13 to 19 at 84 schools in the capital responded to the survey. The Norwegian Institute for Research on Growth, Welfare and Ageing (Nova) is behind the questionnaire.
