The Ministry of Culture in the government have withheld support for the Islamic Council, but invited them to a meeting in August to discuss the internal strife of the Board.

The Ministry of Culture has asked for a report on the internal situation in the Council as a result of the entire board resigning on June 4th, wrote Aftenposten. The Council submitted a report in which it described what happened during the meeting where the board resigned, and explained efforts to elect a new Board will be taken up after the summer season. Despite the statement, the ministry has decided to withhold support and invite them to a meeting on August 23rd.

The Culture Minister declined to comment, and members of the temporary committee of the Islamic Council want to meet before giving a statement.

The Islamic Council receives 1.3 million kroner in state aid annually. The plan was to pay 650.000 kroner in June. The State aid will not be paid until after the meeting on August 23, at the earliest.
