The celebration of Sweden’s King Carl Gustafs 70th birthday began with a church service in Castle Stockholm Cathedral and a royal band that played Abbas “Dancing Queen.”

King Harald, Queen Sonja and the Crown Prince and Crown Princess have chosen to cancel their trip to Stockholm due to the helicopter accident outside of Bergen, which cost 13 lives.
The Norwegian royal family, however, was represented by Princess Martha Louise and Ari Behn.
At 8 in the morning on Satruday the flag was raised, which marked the opening of the official program and a celebration was held in the Castle Church(Slottskyrkan) at 10 o’clock.
Then the king was welcomed by both the royal guests and ordinary people in Yttre courtyard.

Said congrats
A ceremony with a choir perfomance,  where people got the chance to greet King Carl Gustaf was held, and some of the children gave flowers to the king.
– I said congrats. He seemed kind, but he looked serious, Ida Adolfsson Arve Heim  says  after having brought a birthday flower to the king.
The Army musical band ended  the ceremony with a performance of the classic “Dancing Queen”, a song that Abba also played in 1976 the honour of King Carl Gustafs then upcoming wedding with Queen Silvia .
– We are here simply because we like the king, Anki Hamren from Härnösand says.
– I’m an exchange student from India, and my teacher said I ought to go here. I only know that he is rich and richer than most kings, says Sarita Shevatekar outside the Royal Palace.
Several of the other Scandinavian royals were also present at the celebration.
