When parliamentarian Sylvi Listhaug of Fremskrittsparti (Frp) visited Harstad to talk about health and care policy, there was still a lot to be said about immigration policy.
“We hear many who say that all cultures are equally worthwhile.I don’t agree. I do not think a culture with female suppression is just as worthwhile. Where girls can’t decide on their own body is not a culture that is equally worthwhile. We read about many examples of those who send their wives and daughters back home because they do not like the Norwegian culture,” Listhaug told Harstad Tidende.
The former Minister for Immigration and Integration, currently sitting on the Parliamentary Health Committee, was in Harstad on Thursday to discuss Frp’s policy at an open meeting in the lecture hall at UiT Campus in Harstad.
“Do you need to suppress girls or to oppress someone because they speak against your religion; there are many countries who have these values,” said Listhaug, among other things, at the meeting.
She said to the newspaper that now she is not a minister she can speak more freely.
“It is important to me that there is no one-way communication,which is why I spend good time on questions and such,” said Listhaug to Harstad Tidende newspaper.
