The Ministry for Local Government will be selecting “Norway’s most attractive city”, and all residents are encouraged to nominate candidates.
– Many municipalities work to create vibrant and sustainable communities. In order to motivate increased efforts and highlight good examples, we award the Attractive City Award. Now we need help to find this year’s winner, says Minister of Municipalities and Modernization Nikolai Astrup (H) in a press release.
Until Sunday, March 15, all Norwegians can nominate their favorite cities or places.
– We are looking for cities and towns that, for example, have worked to become more inclusive and safe, who have developed good services for children, young people and the elderly, or who have contributed to improving air quality. Or maybe they have done something completely different, says Astrup.
Architect Alexandria Algard will lead an independent jury that will ultimately select a worthy winner.
The prize, which will be awarded for the sixth time this year, will be awarded in June. The winner receives NOK 125,000 in prize money, in addition to a diploma and a plaque.
Bergen took the victory in last year’s election. Before that Kristiansand, Fredrikstad and Bodø had won. When the prize was awarded for the first time in 2015, it was Trondheim, Helse Midt Norge and St. Olav’s hospital that won.
