The European Civil Aviation Authority EASA sent an urgent message this Thursday afternoon that Airbus helicopters of the AS 332 L2 and EC 225 LP are now forbidden from flying.

The decision from EASA come in the wake of preliminary conclusions from Havarikommisjonen that point to fatigue cracks in the main gearbox as a possible factor behind the Turøy-crash.
CAA forbid the flight of all Super Puma helicopters of the type that crashed (EC 225 LP) on the same day as the accident. Just days later, the ban was extended to apply its predecessor (AS 332 L2).
