Dutch WikiLeaks employee, Arjen Kamphuis, has been reported missing after he was last seen in Bodø on August 20th.
“There was news of his disappearance from the Dutch police this weekend. The police in Bodø have started preliminary investigations,’’ said operations manager Tommy Bech of Nordland police district to NTB news.
News agency AFP reported on Sunday night that WikiLeaks on Twitter said on Saturday that Kamphuis was reported missing by friends and colleagues. Kamphuis is described as a colleague of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, security expert and author of a book on information security for journalists.
Kamphuis left the hotel where he was staying in Bodø on August 20th.He took a train to Trondheim, where he had an air ticket two days later, WikiLeaks wrote on Twitter.
“We are at the very beginning of initial investigations.There are some traces we will check out, but we have no theory at this time,”said Bech to NTB news.
