Up to half of all the incidents of sexual abuse of children were perpetrated by other children. Now the government has to ensure that minors offenders are receiving treatment, the Christian Democrats say.
The case will be sent for consultation to the Standing Committee on Justice next week. In the proposal from the Christian Democratic Party(KRF) the government is requested to ensure that  the underage offenders get treatment and individual support.
– This is a very important proposal, and we will support its contents, sa Kari Henriksen (Labor) says.
According to international research between 20 and 50 percent of all sexual misconduct or abuse of minors  is committed by other children. Many of the perpetrators are themselves bearers of sexual trauma.
– The possibilities for getting help in Norway depends greatly on where you live,  the proponents stressed, pointing out that both Sweden and Denmark have national clinics where children predators can get treatment. In Norway, however, what kind of treatment these children receive is determined by their postcode, according to specialists.
The government also must ensure that the questioning of children and adolescents who are suspected of sexual abuse, will be conducted at the National Children’s Houses. Moreover,   separate institutions should be created for the assailants in order to to prevent them from being placed in the same place as the victims, the Christian Democratic Party say.
Progress Party  MP Ulf Leirstein thinks the proposal seems reasonable but emphasizes that the Progress Party has not yet considered the matter.
– We will do this after the hearing, he says.
