The Norwegian woman who died of rabies was infected by an abandoned puppy she found during a holiday in the Philippines. She took the puppy to her resort to take care of it.

The woman, who was in her 20s, died on Monday after being admitted to Førde central hospital with a rabies infection.

Her family told the story in a press release reproduced by several media, including VG newspaper. The puppy was found helpless on a roadside.Everyone played with the puppy in the garden.

‘’Only after she had been home in Norway for a long time did she begin to get sick. No one connected the little puppy from the holiday to the disease, especially her. The disease progressed while the doctors struggled to find out what was wrong’ said the woman’s family.

The family has now requested that the rabies vaccine be included in the vaccine program when traveling to places where there may be rabies.
