The midsummer bonfire on Slinningsodden in Ålesund was measured at 47.4 meters, setting a new world record. On Saturday night the whole contraption went up in smoke.
After a bit of delay, the world’s tallest sankthansbål was lit on Saturday night, surrounded by small boats and with the fire department at the ready .
The record was confirmed on Saturday afternoon by Møre og Romsdal Police. According to Sunnmørsposten the Slinning bonfire was measured at 47.4 meters by a laser this year. It is made up of pallets and made without any use of machinery.
