If you break the flight ban for drones at any of the country’s airports, you run the risk of prosecution. Other violations of drone law can cause hefty fines.
Oslo, Agder, Southeast and Southwest police districts have prepared a new fine directive for breaches of the drone regulations, writes Stavanger Aftenblad.
“First and foremost, the new Fines Directive should provide for equal practice between police districts. Earlier we saw that it was reacting differently to illegal flights,” says police lawyer Bjarne Wintherhus-Fjeld in Southwest police district.
The rates in the directive are indicative, but the thousand bills fly fast for those who do not follow the rules. To fly higher than 120 meters, closer than 150 meters from people, houses and buildings or to fly a drone in a way that it is a risk to the public can give fines of 8,000 to 12,000 kroner.
“Anyone who flies in areas with restrictions does not risk only 12,000 NOK in fines. If it’s in the vicinity of a military area or an airport, other charges will be considered,” writes the police.
Director Anette Sigmundstad at Stavanger Airport, Sola has zero tolerance and reports illegal drone flying. She is happy about the coordination between police districts.
“The sentence also reflects that illegal flight is serious. At airports, drones have a very great danger and damage potential,” says Sigmundstad.
So far this year, Avinor has reported 13 drone incidents to the police.
