The coach was extremely disappointed after the 1-2 loss in the vital match against the Czech Republic. He said he takes responsibility, but refuses to fold.
‘This is not the time for these type of reflections. I am contracted for another year, and I shall stick to it’, he said at the press conference when asked if he is going to resign.

‘It’s me who’s boss, and I have full responsibility in terms of the match outcome. I fully understand that there are critical questions when we lose football games’, he continued.

‘The opening to the game was as we wanted, but you can never vouch for the defensive game we were up against at times today’.

When asked directly, Høgmo responded that he is prepared well to lead the team into the next match in Northern Ireland, in late March.

‘It’s not up to me to consider my position, it is up to the board. I am prepared to roll up my sleeves and work hard on it’, said Høgmo, who does not write off Norway’s World Cup chances.

‘This is not currently the correct type of analysis. We are very disappointed with the result, and we’ll take it from there’.
