Romania took advantage of Norway’s loss in the opening match of the European Championship and took the leadership in Group D after the opening round of the Women’s Handball European Championship (EM).The Romanian’s beat the Czech Republic 31-28.

Earlier on Saturday, the Norwegian title defenders lost 32-33 in the match with Germany. An unusually weak defence gave Norway a bad start in France.

Romania led 17-11 at the break. The lead got a bit smaller in the end, but the final whistle came too late for the Czech Republic. Superstar, Cristina Neagu scored eight goals, but wasn’t the top scorer of the day.Eliza Buceschi scored more.

Norway had a solid start in the European Championships.

The team can still move on with four points, but it requires two victories over the Czech Republic and Romania and the help of other teams’ scores in the coming days.

Romania is a strong team, and the Norwegian girls must raise the bar significantly before the teams meet on Wednesday.

  1. Guys, after yesterday game, it’s time to know that Cristina is from Romania, not from Czech Republic. 🙂
