First direct route from Norway to China

The Chinese company Hainan Airlines will fly three times a week from Oslo to Beijing. Wednesday, the first commercial scheduled flight from Oslo Airport.

The first departure will be marked by an event where both Minister of Business Torbjørn Røe Isaksen (H), Hainan Airlines Avinor, Innovation Norway and Visit Oslo participate.

The flight from Oslo will take 9 hours and 35 minutes, while the return will take 10 hours. The route will be operated by aircraft, such as the Airbus A330-300, with room for nearly 300 passengers, according to Dinside.

This is important for the Norwegian economy. We get more tourists to Norway and more seafood into the world, said airport director Øyvind Hasaas at Oslo Airport to NTB when the flight departure was signed at the Chinese capital in October of last year.

Until now, one has had to travel to Europe to get to China, with Copenhagen and Stockholm being the closest stopover.

Hainan Airlines is one of China’s largest airlines and has over 600 aircraft. At the same time, the company owns several large resorts on the island province of Hainan – China’s response to the South.
