Record overnight stays in June

There were 4.2 million overnight stays at commercial actors in Norway in June. This is a record for the sixth month of the year and 4.3 percent increase than last year.

 

For the hotels, the increase was 3.6 percent compared to June of 2017. A rise in the average price per room of 1.3 percent contributed to the hotel’s revenue from accommodation increasing by 5.8 percent, according to information from Statistics Norway. Vacation and leisure travelers accounted for 1.5 million of a total of 2.6 million hotel stays.

While there were 8 percent more overnight stays with Norwegian guests, there was a 3.6 percent decrease in the number of guest nights with foreign guests.

In Svalbard, hotel stays increased by 4.8 percent.

The campsites had more guests from Norway and abroad. In total there were 1.3 million overnight stays at the campgrounds, which is 7.5 percent more than in June last year. The growth is greatest among mobile homes: 34 percent.

Cabin rentals experienced a decline of 1.3 percent and ended with a quarter of a million overnight stays.
