SAS refuses children travelling alone while strike is in progress

SASBiofuel for all at Oslo Airport

When we realised that there could be strikes, we put an embargo, that is, a bar, on children travelling alone from Friday morning. Children who arrived at the airport were told that they could not travel alone, and it is not possible to book trips for children who are alone so long as the strike is in progress’’ explained information manager, Knut Morten Johansen, of SAS to Bergens Tidende newspaper.

If a child was booked to travel alone before the strike came into force, Johansen asks the parents to contact other airlines.

Children can travel alone after the age of five. According to the newspaper, usually between 500 and 800 children travel alone with SAS in Norway on a regular weekend.

Although some of the company’s flights are scheduled as normal, none of them will bring children travelling alone.

1,213 SAS flights are cancelled on Monday and Tuesday as a result of the pilot strike. In total, just under 110,000 passengers across the Nordic countries will be affected on these days.
