Norwegian films that were distributed in the period from March 13 to September 30, 2020, can now apply for funding. A total of NOK 10 million will be distributed.

“This is NOK 10 million in fresh funds to help film producers who have been hit particularly hard by closed cinemas and reduced capacity during the pandemic,” Minister of Culture Abid Raja (V) noted in a press release.

The compensation scheme will be administered by the Norwegian Film Institute (NFI), and film producers can now apply for funding for films that were distributed in the period from March 13 to September 30, 2020.

“I am glad that, with this scheme, we can help film producers who were affected by closed cinemas in March 2020.

“We also see that there may be a need to compensate films that were in cinemas during the period with strict restrictions on capacity, before the stimulation scheme came into place on October 1, 2020,” Abid Raja said.
