Universities in Stavanger and Bergen are preparing to receive hundreds of students from abroad. Many of them will have to go straight into a 10-day quarantine.

-”Many of them will be coming from countries where the infection rate is higher than here.”, said the Vice Principal at the University of Stavanger (UiS), Astrid Birgitte Eggen, to NRK.

UiS will be receiving 260 foreign students, and around 70-80 of them will be coming in August.

-”Most of those that will be coming will have to be quarantined. More countries are becoming red now.”, said Eggen.

Those coming from “red” countries will have to be quarantined for 10 days.Eggen emphasizes that the university will be on guard and will monitor the day to day situation.

488 foreign students will be coming to the University of Bergen (UiB). 116 of those coming are from countries that are red.

-”Everyone will be offered to take the Corona test when they arrive here.”, says Vice Principal for Education at UiB, Oddrun Samdal.

The school will also offer to buy food for quarantined students.

At several other large universities, like Oslo Met, University of Oslo, and the University of Tromsø, they have chosen to cancel all regular exchanges with a few exceptions.
