For the first time in nearly 15 years all the applicants got into the Bachelor of petroleum program at the University of Stavanger.

There is not any particular number of points that are required to be accepted into the program this year , and no waiting list.
After the intake was completed, places for students at both the petroleum engineering and -geology studies have been made available at Restetorget( Journ. comm:the list of studies with places available),  the newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad writes.

-When being presented with these frightening numbers, it’s hard to believe that this is not due to the oil crisis, Caroline Meling, primary consultant  at the University of Stavanger, says.

While the oil studies are closely connected to an industry with fluctuating economic conditions, there are other subjects that are less affected, and Meling says they see that people now choose studies that seem safe.

For industrial economy studies, you still need high grades to be accepted, just like what was case for petroleum studies when business went well. There is a long waiting list for the nurse program in Stavanger. 895 applicants are on the waiting list for that study hope.
– It is a very stable profession, which will not be dependent on the trends of the market,  Meling says.
